Soldier On EP

Album Reviews
Based in the North West of England, Pollen are an up-and-coming quartet brought up on the indie-rock scene of the neighbouring Manchester and Liverpool areas. On this three-track EP they set their stall out early; going straight for the jugular with powerful vocals and guitar histrionics that plot a course midway between Muse and Puressence. After a promising start, 'Leave Quietly' features some over the top guitar playing but 'Soldier On' brings them back into line; another potential single which is stirring enough for listeners to heed their advice and "get up on your feet". Whilst the production could do with a little more clarity - it was recorded by the band in a garage - Pollen are young enough and good enough to bring their fist-clenching anthems to a wider audience.
