Parker are a quintet from Kent who have been playing London gigs consistently since the beginning of 2003. Although the group's name and the title of their EP doesn't reveal much in terms of imagination, they are extremely adept at creating memorable pop tunes. Each of the four songs is carefully constructed, boasting enough pace and key changes to make them a southern answer to Manchester-area groups like Puressence. In turn 'Sheep Amongst Wolves' boasts intensity and menace, 'The Journey' is optimistic, 'Grey Matter' boasts a terrific guitar frenzy as its conclusion and vocalist Joe Liste-Romero impressively reaches the high notes on the closing 'Centre Of The Park'. This is the sound of a band which - given the required financial backing - has enough confidence and talent to make a very fine album indeed.
