Although now officially no more, Six.By Seven appease their following with a limited edition offering consisting of live studio recordings, demos and finished masters. The quality of the material is such, however, that it really should be treated as a new album. 'Club Sandwich...' picks up from where last album 'Artists, Cannibals, Poets, Thieves' left off so there's room for the bruising old-style Black Rebel Motorcycle Club approach ('I'm Gonna Try', 'In My Hell'), anguished cacophonies ('America') and - in 'Sailing Around The Horn' - one of those ecstatic choruses which they always seemed quite fond of. Yet by the time 'Don't Let It Bring You Down' has finished it's hard not to feel exhausted by the sheer forcefulness and commitment of it all. All of which makes for an impressive hour's worth of grinding, droning and often exhilarating rock.
