Fresh from receiving some very useful funding from the Prince's Trust, Yorkshireman Daniel Halliday has put it to the best possible use to set up his own label and release this rather wonderful slice of tuneful guitar and electronic music under the name of Motodestra. Taking its cues from the mesmeric, twinkling guitar shapes of Tristeza, Halliday also injects his instrumentals with a noticeably human quality. The distant call of seagulls and the crashing waves add more character to the air of noirish intrigue on 'Oceanique' whilst 'Dream Four' and 'Theme For A Friend' capture the analog filmic sounds of King Of Woolworths. Without so much as an average track on the record, this is lush, hypnotic music deserving of a much wider audience.
