An excellent compilation from I Can Count, a new record label whose agenda is loosely based around artists who make "robot music with a human touch". It's a noble aim and one which the assorted talents gathered here manage to pull off for the majority of the time.
Project New City make a beautiful dreampop single, whilst Knol Bowie (Four Tet meets glum rock), Mr Fogg (the sound of Elbow going digital) Mica Ft Taz (electro-soul), Otterley (heartburtsing dreampop) and the gritty 'Fuckability' from Mickey Charbgaz demonstrate the full breadth and talent of their oeuvre. Another stunning moment is provided by Music Video's glitchy rock anthem 'Odalisque'. So with only a couple of bland tracks in its seventy-plus minutes, you don't have to be a mathematician to deduce that 'I Can Count' have hit upon a good formula.
