Clearly enthralled by the shoegazing scene circa 1992, Dreamfield's second EP reveals the promise of original ideas of its very own. In addition to deep and precise gothic vocals and requisite threatening bass, there are touches of a more modern approach which take the sound out of a dreampop time warp and into the 21st Century. For one, there's the scratching and add to that distorted vocals that work extremely well. In contrast, 'Alive' is willowy and less substantial. The remaining space on the CD is given to two remixes of the title track; the first metallic and crunchy, the second is more industrial with added Japanese interjections although the original - actually recorded live - is the definitive version.
