The recent exhumation of The Room's excellent back catalogue won't harm the chance of success for Dave Jackson's current group, Dead Cowboys. Together with erstwhile "room mate" Becky Stringer, Dead Cowboys place further emphasis on the country rock route explored by his former charges on their classic 'In Evil Hour' album. Understandably, twenty years on, there's a world-weariness to proceedings this time around making it a perfect bedfellow for last year's Blue Orchids comeback particularly on the doleful 'Black Easter'. The songs within are good rather than great; 'Biting The Ground' perhaps being the pick of the bunch. Although lacking the thrills of old, this is a dignified return from a band who clearly still enjoying making music.
