Another small but perfectly formed electronic package from the ever-productive Boltfish Recordings. This time it's the turn of Mark Streafield's Zainetica. Streafield now has contributed to or created twenty releases but 'When The Time Comes' shows no sign of idea shortage; sounding fresh and immediately accessible. Track three of this latest EP contains a few minutes of Autechre-aping glitchy electronica but it's an anomaly as the four other tracks present a talent for melodic and wistful techno music. The mood, however, veers towards a darker hue; 'Shattered Bones', for example, sounds like the accompaniment to an ill-advised night-time walk through a dangerous city but there's equal amounts of warmth to be found in these tracks. Furthermore - from listening to this EP - it's easy to empathise with Streatfield using his music as a form of escapism from commuter hell on the London Underground.
