Theselah are a New York-based four piece with a penchant for punk music backed up by a keen ear for tunes. From the outset on the incredibly haunting 'Nothing Special' there is a queasy feeling of Velvet Underground-inspired dolefulness. It's perhaps the most polished effort on the album but from there their endearing DIY ethic takes centre stage. 'Bad-Ass HiFi', 'Uryne'', 'Lazy Dresser' and 'Take It Fast Or Take It Slow' come drenched in dirty punk guitars and feedback but emerging from beneath them are delightful off-kilter melodies like deeply intense nursery rhymes. More importantly the entirely self-produced 'No Sleep More Fun' breathes new life into punk rock just as Earl Brutus did with their debut album in 1996.
