Taking time off from synth and guitar duties with avant rockers Butterfly is Leeds' Matthew Jennings. He should do it more often on this evidence as his solo project Talk Less, Say More is an altogether more considered, computer-based work. With an approach to tune-making that draws comparisons with the melodic talents of Iceland's Eberg, Jennings crafts soundscapes of dream-filled wonder, whether it's using the warm beats of 'Aurora Borealis' or conjuring up images of wind-up toys on 'Oh Well'. A key addition to this process are the ghostly vocals of Erika Jones who trills quite beautifully over Jennings' inventive electronica making 'Spring Summer Autumn Winter Spring' and 'Tell Me A True Story' fragrant highlights. Blessed with a child-like imagination, Jennings has delivered a refreshingly different electronica record.
