As pop songs go, Tahiti 80's 'Big Day' is just about perfect. Some beautiful falsetto harmonies, sensual funk and a head-spinning chorus make it one of the best tracks of 2006 so far. Thankfully, this French quartet back up this single with a great third album that should see some of their compatriots sit up and take notice that substance should always win out over modish disco beats and easy listening revivals. Dub is skilfully employed on 'Here Comes...', there's sun-kissed balladry on 'Paradise' (which references Minnie Riperton's 'Loving You'), lemon-fresh disco on 'What Next' and in the Motown-flavoured 'Matter Of Time' they have another potential hit on their hands. So, to conclude, 'Fosbury' leaps above the soul/funk/pop crowd with heart as well as style.
