Currently enjoying second billing to The Editors, We Are Scientists are another addition to the growing number of bands with an early 80's post-punk fixation. It is easy to imagine that they've listened to their fair share of Josef K records and although they don't share the Scottish heritage as Franz Ferdinand do (We Are Scientists are American), their catchy, angular hooks seem less mannered and more natural. 'With Love And Squalor' can boast a number of potential hits: 'This Scene Is Dead', 'It's A Hit', 'What's The Word' and 'The Great Escape' make their mark quickly and incisively featuring memorable choruses and visceral thrills whilst 'Textbook' even shares Interpol's gift for reverberating, tear-stained romance. All these ingredients make up a really promising first outing.
