Postscript

Album Reviews
Northern Picture Library were essentially The Field Mice slimmed to a threesome but this change also brought about a more ambient sound which was just as much informed by dance music as the quintessential Englishness writ large over the erstwhile band's work. 'Postscript' is a handy round-up of EPs and unreleased tracks from their career which represents their eclectic approach to songwriting. Abundant with heavenly harmonies, 'Paris' sounds like a lost gem from the dreampop scene. Continuing the shoegazing theme is the blissful 'Untitled #3' and the FX-heavy finale to 'Dear Faraway Friend'. Elsewhere the aching guitars and sincere sentiments of 'Norfolk Windmills' hark back to their more traditional arrangements. There's proof enough here that Northern Picture Library deserve more than just footnote status in Bobby Wratten's prolific career.
