Junkboy's 'Lost Parade' initially appears to be one of those albums that pass by unnoticed; it's gentle charms often bordering on the soporific. Then after about the third or fourth hearing, it makes perfect sense; it's July release date making it a perfect soundtrack for those all-too-brief weeks of the English summer. Junkboy combine their gifts with whispered harmonies and caressed guitars to provide the rays of sunshine. Tracks such as 'Embers', 'Ten' and the title song meld the organic textures of Talk Talk with the beatific harmonies of the under-appreciated Arnold. They also excel at instrumentals whether it's the folk-flavoured 'Cry4unomore' or 'Shadow And Art', in which splashes of acoustic guitar are joined by tender raindrops of flute and brass instruments. Yet refreshingly out of step with the modern agenda as it is, the charms of 'Lost Parade' should endure for many seasons to come.
