Albums scarcely arrive as big, bright and summery as The Cherry Orchard's second album but this Cambridge duo have delivered a confectionery of sugary sonic perfection. With Jason taking the lead on guitars and vocals and Sara providing bass and backing vocals (cue plenty of 'la la's', 'do do's' and 'ba ba's' etc.) and a wealth of 60's sweet, sunny harmonies not many could argue that anything original is being promoted here. That this album works is purely down to the strength of the tunes. 'Everybody Knows', the title track and 'The Start Of Our Affair' are the most infectious but more languid numbers in the vein of 'Tonight' and 'Love Among The Stars' demonstrate that the band operate in more than just one dimension. As a soundtrack to summer 'This World Is Such A Groovy Place' fits the bill nicely indeed which makes its late-September release date all the more baffling.
