Another promising release from the relatively new French label Arbouse Recordings, Audioroom fall firmly into the electronic camp of ambient music. Paris-born Nicholas Bernaud presents an engaging sound that seems to be partly influenced by the Warp Records artists with whom he has toured with. Those faniliar with Kraftwerk's 'Electric Cafe' will no doubt appreciate the samples of ringtones and phone conversations used in 'Platform'. 'Cosmogony' is a minimalist set of bleeps topped off by a blissful coda whilst 'Break In The Weather' shimmers darkly yet attractively. Yet the best moments are saved for more melodic forays like 'Vertical Ground' and 'Strange Attractor'. As with so many electronica albums, 'Seismograph' works best when the tunes are more tangible.
