With the revival of shoegazer/dreampop type music now seemingly outlasting the original late-80s/early-90s scene, the better contenders are the ones who can last the distance. Auburn Lull are certainly a contender and 'Cast From The Platform' is their second album of expertly-produced ethereal rock that has echoes of 'Souvlaki' period Slowdive about it; opting for lengthy and lush atmospheric pieces rather than the rock-orientated likes of The Meeting Places or Dorian Gray. Dreamy without being easily washed away under a torrent of effects, 'Jersey Narrows' and the languid guitars and mantric harmonies of'Deterior' are particularly beautiful. In fact, the only lull in sight is in their chosen band name.
